Sustainability

Clyde Leather

Sustainable

As a long established manufacturer we have extremely strong supply chains of raw material, buying locally sourced material coming from the best Scottish and British Beef hides.

This material is sourced with a strong focus on sustainability, offering low carbon impact and full traceability throughout the supply chain—an essential requirement for many leading brands committed to responsible production.

We produce bespoke suede and leathers tailored to each customer’s requirements from 1mm up to 3.0mm thickness. And our leathers features in a wide range of products including shoes, belts and handbags.

We continue to innovate, meeting the challenge of delivering high-quality suede in large volumes and a wide variety of colours.

Sustainably sourced British hides, expertly crafted into high-quality, bespoke leather at scale.

Our Local Spring Water Source

Locally Sourced Leather

At Clyde Leather, sustainability is woven into everything we do. Over the past six months, all of our leather has been sourced and produced locally in Scotland, within a 10-mile radius of our tannery. By keeping our supply chain close to home, we significantly reduce transportation emissions while supporting local agriculture and industry.

Our leather is sourced from responsibly farmed UK and Irish rawhides, produced to high animal welfare standards in line with the Five Freedoms Principles. With full traceability available back to farm level, customers can be confident in the provenance and quality of every hide.

We are proud to use leather certified as the world’s lowest-carbon leather and the only leather awarded Low Carbon Leather certification. Alongside this, we continue to invest in sustainable manufacturing practices, including low-water technologies, 100% REACH-compliant chemical systems, and a zero industrial waste-to-landfill operation.

Our commitment extends beyond the environment to our people. As an employer, we value and invest in our workforce, paying above the National Living Wage and recognising that our team is the foundation of our success.
